is to promote freedom in peace,
to inspire spiritual self-awareness.
These reflections are not commercial,
and may be copied and shared and quoted
by anyone so long as the author is mentioned.

Foreword
While staying beside this river in a forest reserve in Brazil,
I ran out of painting material, and used what was then available: a camera. Most of these photos were taken at the same time, before the sun set behind the mountains.
The text includes meditations and questions, which have been with me for years and extracts of letters sent to the Pope, the European
Parliament to governors, ministers, and people in different parts of the world, in the hope of clearing long, tiresome and hopeless conflicts
of human beings upon this planet.
If we, human beings are intelligent enough to invent a weapon
that can blow up this world, we must, at least find a solution to live
in peace with each other.
Hate is the false prophet, love is the true master.
Is it too dangerous to stand beside someone who says this ?

Water,
Primordial womb,
mother of all forms.
Miraculous space,
where heaven and earth unites.
Mother of pearl, prism of light,
multi-formed reflector of rainbows,
of colours of all that exists for a while,
as the wind, the current breaks the surface,
into infinite reflections
of the light of the sun, of the moon, the stars,
of all that stands before it.
primordial existence, before life and death,
good and evil, before feeling existed, pleasure or pain.
Translucid matter, mother of all tears
of joy, of compassion, of sorrow, of pain.
Immemorial beginning of Creation,
before vulnerability, and love,
before awareness of it's magnificent,
sublime beauty…
PART I
Love over mind
as light over water.

What came first, the reality or the dream?
There is the dream within reality,
the reality within the dream…
*
Has life come from the water,
or from the mind of which water is a reflection?
*
The mystery of your life
will be revealed at your death,
a thought said to me.
-Why not now, I argued,
since Now is Eternal?
*
Ignorance is the Sphinx:
-"Decipher me, or I will devour you."
Are you prepared to see yourself as you are ?
-Just start looking.
*
Innocence is an aspect of consciousness.
Not knowing is essential for clear seeing.
*
In a challenging way, Myriam looked into my eyes:
-'Who came first, the chicken or the egg ?'
-If there is an answer to every question,
there is to that one, I said, laughing.
And embracing her: .
-I know… the two came together:
there is a chicken in the egg ,
and there is an egg in the chicken.
-'People have broken their heads
until now and found no answer', she said.
-We will find it ! I told her.

If such immense beauty was there
in the beginning of this infinite creation
of waters, stones and sunlight,
from where could it have come,
but from the consciousness of love?
Perhaps Matter is but Consciousness in a deep sleep,
and all that we call living forms are
but its dreams.

In the Beginning,
who knows,
the thought: "I am",
by a water drop
in the light of the Sun,
like a daydream,
or a poet's fantasy,
created the first living cell...
*
What is our true self, our true identity ?
A nationality, a religion, a form,
or the consciousness that can be free
of nationality, religion and form ?
The true act of giving or receiving is not in the hand,
but in the heart and mind.
When we give all we have to love, are we not richer?

Water flowing around stones
creates infinite forms,
simply being itself.
You have taken a road, and I another.
If essentially we are pure consciousness,
what distinguishes you from me?
The road we take?
*
The fact that each one of us occupies a body,
a point in time and space,
does not make our consciousness differ
in essence, from one another.
What vary are the objects.
*
And neither object differ, essentially,
from each other:
As Jacques Dumont has written:
-'Qu'a chose, une autre chose c'est la même chose'.
(As a thing, another thing is the same thing.)!

To what king or country
to what master do I belong?
Everywhere in this World,
as in other worlds,
a lie is a lie, and truth is truth,
in people's eyes.

What is the Unity of the Universe,
at one time personal and impersonal,
objective and subjective,
the Oneness in the diversity of the Universe ?
What is the Master in the Buddha,
in the Christ, in you,
the way to Heaven and Heaven itself ?
*
The beauty of the light on water,
of the stars in the endless space,
is everywhere the same,
and always new, in the Universe.
Everywhere creatures can suffer,
in this Universe, and everywhere
love can heal our wounds.

_Beware powerful kings, prophets,
masters and gods,
the most subversive of all powers
is simply love!
*
To say God is love
is to refer to a universal experience,
but to say God is this or that particular man,
is to limit the perfect to the imperfect,
to limit God to one human personality,
is to be bound to a tradition.
Have you ever heard of traditional love ?

I have seen the spirit of Light as infinitive goodness,
humbleness and beauty.
I do not believe in the revengeful God
full of hate, witch primitive men created and adore.
*
There can be communion of consciousness,
but consciousness is not man-made.
One can fall in love, but to say one can make love is not correct.
Love is not man-made.
Love is the Light of Nature,
the natural light of consciousness
in every living creature.
*
To contemplate this river of life and death,
is to see the wonder of each detail
without attachment, as part of one whole.
All that is beautiful in a fleeting moment
in the eternal river of life and death
does not exist independently,
except as a memory, an image,
a drawing, a photo, pointing to it.
It is all or nothing-
Each wave, each thing,
each one is a part of all
or there is nothing.

Is there really free will?
Are we to be condemned or to be forgiven
if we do not know what we do ?
Is man guilty or a victim of false perception, of illusion?
*
If love is the natural Light of all living beings,
why are not all living beings naturally loving, naturally clear ?
Originally the water is clear, but it may become muddy
and troubled in a storm.
Originally the mind is clear, but thoughts, like a storm,
may disturb its clarity.
*
If Adam and Eve were clear-minded,
would they have fallen from Paradise?
If the God of that story was clear-minded,
why did he not make them clear,
instead of condemning them out of Paradise?
*
If we must follow the will of God or go to hell,
we are not really given a choice, are we ?
-'When there is clarity, is there choice?'
asked Krishnamurti once…
…'When there is clarity,
there is only what is, and the false ideas,
the false thoughts about what is.'
In this sense there is no choice to make,
and free will is an illusion.
So, to say that free will is a gift of God,
is to say God is the creator of the illusion,
But if God is the Holy Spirit, the spirit of love,
then it creates spiritual awareness, not confusion.

A God made in the likeness of men,
has many incoherencies.
As St. Paul has wondered,
how could God, as a 'potter, who has made man from clay,
be furious at the 'bad pots' of his own making…?

Thoughts, ripples of the mind;
gracious, or chaotic,
down the slopes of our longings.
There is the pure ignorance of innocence,
essential for clear seeing
and the ignorance of pretentiousness,
which destroys all clarity
and all sense of communion.

If we are lost,
we are not what we think to be:
our form, our clothes,
our position or possessions.
A devil is an angel unaware of itself.
*
Is it consciousness who suffers,
or who ends the suffering?
The hand which receives, may also give.
*
If suffering is a condition for Life on this Earth,
to say the Creator is Omniscient and All Goodness,
makes no sense, for whoever consciously
inflicts suffering on another is simply not good.
It makes more sense to say that the Creator of suffering,
of greed, is Thought itself.

Birds come every day and sing
at Myriam's window.
They eat and drink and bathe,
quarrel and play with each other
in her garden, making nests
on the climbing plants,
at the reach of her hands.
Not prisoners, but guests
Part II
Mother of pearl, prism of light…

If we could really see the beauty of nature,
the beauty of love, would we still destroy it?
.
*
The eyes that see themselves
are humble and clear.
*
If we could see with the eyes of innocence,
of the original consciousness,
would we not be sincere and just to one another?
*
What is "sacrale onwetendheid " ? I asked Myriam once.
-Sacrale comes from sacrament. (And with her large eyes
even larger):-Something very important,
like the ritual of the Host in the Mass…
(Then, in her child-like playfulness she imagined eating
the flesh, drinking the blood of Christ, and said:)
"-But I am a vegetarian !!!(and continuing:)
...It is the priest who drinks the wine …?!
...but if he offered the wine,
there would be a lot more people in the Mass…"
…Holy ignorance…!

Beauty is an expression of love-consciousness
in the ever changing forms of nature, of art.
-Even the beauty of a spider web?
*
The nobility of water remains unchanged,
whatever we fantasy upon it..
The nobility of wood remains unchanged,
whatever vulgar thoughts we sculpt upon it.

Myriam looks like an angel
when she is alone, sitting or walking somewhere in nature,
in her garden, surrounded by her plants birds friends,
like a fairy, or Snow- white. But she has some deep trauma
with the human species…
The telephone rings.
she could climb on a table as a woman who fears a mouse,
shouting '-Peeeeeople…..!'

A neighbour child knocked at the door
asking if I had seen two birds, who escaped from her house.
- No, but if I see them , I will be happy they are free.
- But they will have nothing to eat, she said.
- There is enough food, look at the other birds...
- It was a gift from my brother for the wedding of my sister!
- Tell your brother that a wedding is not for putting someone
in a prison, will you?
Looking disappointed she said: - I will.

One day on TV we saw images of the violence of a crocodile
against a beautiful thirsty deer on an African river.
Traumatized, Bonitinha ended up saying:
' -People are not so bad after all…'

Who, being Omnipotent and all Goodness,
could passively look at the cruelty
of a hungry beast against a prey,
and do nothing to stop it?
Does suffering have to be?
do we have to suffer for the beauty of nature?
Why the terrible snake of the food chain in Nature,
ever eating its own tail?
May God interfere, we pray, for love's sake.

In the wild, if an animal dies, it has had a life.
Humans can be more cruel than spiders and snakes.
They can grow animals in tiny cells, only to kill them,
and not even give them a life.
Yet, through the love of people, the tiger's descendant
became the pussy cat,
and that of the wolf, has been called 'a man's best friend'!

People should care for animals, give them a happy life.
But if one must slaughter, may one do better,
not worse than predators
But If they must be offered to man, may they die
as in a deep sleep, a painless and peaceful death..

If we had the wisdom to speak to the germs
of a disease, to spiders and snakes,
would we need to kill them?
St. Francis preached to the birds...

Unconsciousness is a way of Nature to avoid pain,
but why does not God change the predator's mind,
or taste of food ?
-'I am a proof that someone can live
without killing animals to eat'. Said Myriam.
One should have strength to master the lion
outside as within ourselves.
Perhaps then, the very craving for meat,
even genetically, will disappear.

Once I asked my friend Myriam if she ever prayed.
-'I am a prayer', she answered me.
*
To console Myriam, I told her :
-I ask the Holy Spirit to end the spiritual ignorance of beings,
the cause of evil or sin, cause of the suffering of existence.
Hurt and angry she said,:
-Is the Holy Spirit blind to allow so much cruelty
against the most lovely creatures in Nature?
Why do we have to ask God to stop all the injustice and horror?
Nature is like a beautiful lady rotten inside,
all nature is rotten inside!'
She said in despair.
-Not all nature ... I said, trying to bring her to her senses:
The elements are pure, the sun, the water and stones are not rotten inside. Love is part of Nature,
is the Light of Nature. God is love itself.
'-There is no Holly Spirit'…she growled.
-Do you not believe in the power of love?' I went on.
True faith is to see that Justice is superior to injustice
and that the power of Love or the Good is the supreme power,
and love always wins!
'-There is no Justice, no love, no God in this reality!
She said irritated.
-God is the Ethical reality within this physical reality, I continued.
Do you love me still? I asked her.
'-Yes...' she replied.
-So, if there is still love, God exists.

God is simply love.
That is why it must manifest between us,
before the dark nature, the greed,
injustice and cruelty in nature
can come to an end.

If suffering is a condition for Life,
to say the Creator is Omniscient and
All Goodness,
makes no sense, for whoever consciously
creates suffering is simply not good.
It makes more sense to say
that the Creator of suffering,
the creator of greed, is Thought itself.

When a black cat crosses your way,
but you love him, what bad luck can you fear ?
The love for power is the origin of all problems,
the power of love, the solution to all problems.

If the Spirit of love itself is God,
it is not wrong to say that God is Omnipotent and Omniscient..
But if a God is not love, then, is it the God of Consciousness
or the work of unconsciousness?

Water may drown
and it does not mind.
The fire may burn.
A stone may fall and hurt someone
and it does not care.
*
Supreme court issues
Religions around world have made horrible crimes of jealousy
such as lapidation seem Godly and true long lasting love relations
between same sex people to seem abominable.
Human Rights means to stand above such prejudices.
There is no true spiritual value, even in the so called holy books,
or traditions in discriminating people spiritually for their sex.
Traditions without living love are like the parrot's repetitions.
Love is greater than the justice and God of men.
Living love is the only spirit which is sacred. There are no sacred traditions.

If some domestic animals can give us love,
like dogs and cats, are they not our small brothers in evolution?
And if they are, when people in some country
still eat them, are they much better then cannibals?

From Letters to US President Obama
Did Jesus tell his followers to convert by the sword, or did he say,
"Those who use the sword will be killed by the sword"?
If Jesus impeded Peter to use the sword,
(Matthew 26:52) Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place;
for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.",
he could not have said this; (Luke 19:27)
'But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them,
bring hither, and slay them before me.'
This is a proof of the contradictions in name of God in the so called holy books.

Do Muslims want to be discriminated for their Beliefs? No.
Yet discrimination of belief is central in Koran:
(3: 85)"If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah),
never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good").
Are Muslims to convert all people without question, even professing non-violence, as vegetarians,
Buddhists or Yogis, to a religion which demands violent ritual slaughter,
not to mention the horror of 'Honour' Murders, illegal crime in the civilized world?

One does not have to kill a sheep if one is a vegetarian.
If a prophet teaches that his is the only religion
and all people on Earth have to follow his version of the Word of God,
where killing a sheep is part of a religious ritual duty,
his is a religion for carnivores.
-What if (out of the goodness of your heart) you are a vegetarian?

Part of a duty of Muslims is the offer of a sheep in Mecca in a non sedated,
brutal and bloody ritual slaughter.
Muslims and Jews in Europe object to the more humane way of sedation before slaughter.

A human is better than a beast by the virtue of the love, compassion in him.
Can one enjoy how a lion brutally kills his prey?
Can one enjoy it being the prey? No.
I would like a happy life and a peaceful death without fear or suffering. So I wish to others.

An unearthly or heavenly Paradise is to 'love our enemies' right now,
is when the "lion" and the "sheep" shall lay peacefully together,
(as our pet cats and dogs can be friends, contrary to their earthly instincts).

Paradise, the eternal Spirit of love itself, cannot be reached by perpetuating the brutal predator in us,
the unnecessary martyrdom of sheep as a ritual obligation,
nor in violating people,
in denying them their right to critical questioning, to practice non- violence.

A young half Algerian told me once
how he took care of a sheep for weeks
and refuse to kill it afterwards before the Imam
to "honour his family".
He explained the reason he did not:
-'I could not kill someone who had become a friend.'

Violence that causes sufferings what must be overcome.
But non-violence does not mean allowing criminals to run free.
Meditation practice should indeed be instituted
in all schools, as well as in all prisons…

A fanatic to terroristic belief is not yet a full grown human,
much less an angel, or the messenger of God.
To be a religious terrorist is to adore
(what Krishnamurti called) a "Petty God of a petty mind".

To believe we are good or evil
is not the same as being self aware.
If we cannot look at ourselves in the eyes,
we might believe we are anything
we are made to believe we are: a devil or a saint.
A belief could make criminals, think to be saints,
or make saints believe to be criminals.
So how could a belief in someone be superior
to the awareness of someone?

When I look at myself in the eyes,
all beliefs about myself disappear.
Superiority, inferiority are delusions.
When you keep looking at the expression
of your body, face and eyes,
a miracle happens: you find yourself.
you are not the body but the awareness and the expression in your body.

of identification with our thought created ego, the unawareness of our true self.
The eyes that see themselves
are humble and clear.

Beliefs are many, love, is but one.

Who is loyal, a believer or a friend ?
Is he loyal who agrees beforehand
with everything you do or say,
or is it he who justly sees you,
discerns what is right or wrong
in what you do or say?

So let us ask oneself, what one would rather have,
believers or friends ?
What would we rather be of Jesus,
Mohamed, Buddha or whoever,
believers or friends ?

One prisoner said to the other,
-Above me, only my church, my priest.
The other said:
-Above me, my country, my general.
A free man said: -Above me, only the Truth.

A young man I call Erci said to me:
-"Everything in that book is the word of God.
So as it is(…) is the word of God,
and God is the judge of all judges."
I answered him:
-God is love, and nothing less than love
is worthy to be called the judge of all judges.

…It is both tragic and ridiculous to argue by means of brutal acts of violence
to prove that one's belief means Peace!
The Islam is the only religion still living today
which preaches that those who practice violence in the name of their religion
will automatically enter heaven.
It is cynical to ask respect for a religion
which has no respect for people of other beliefs.

Is violence the solution for unbelief?
is violence a solution if another does not understand?
Or is it only forcing someone by fear to agree with whatever you say?
Violence is the argument of the poor in the mind, poor in Reason,
poor in Justice.

ABOUT UNQUESTIONABILITY :
WHAT SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS and POWER LOVING TEACHINGS DO NOT HAVE IN COMMON?
Violence is a most stupid argument.
A Philosopher does not consider belief or unbelief a problem.
No reason not to be a friend of, or to kill someone.
True philosophers, as saints or holy sages,
would never convert humans through the sword,
but bring about enlightenment and understanding
through honesty, clarity, insight and an intelligent dialogue.
The so called 'holy' wars, have nothing of holy, from the point of view of love and intelligence.
This is the tragic comedy of unreasoning, unquestioning beliefs:
All opposing parties at war, while sending each other literally to hell, in the slaughter,
consider themselves the heroes, the martyrs who will go to heaven.
Is unquestioning, indiscriminate submission, convenient for the world today?
Has it ever been?
Hate is the false prophet, love is the true master.
There is no holy ground which has been won by cruel violence and hate.
Holy is the love and understanding between all people.

Believers should not avoid seeing, nor deny others to see, the discrimination
in the core of their belief, against people of other beliefs.
Friendship towards all people, not only towards 'our people',
is the only light that can solve the conflicts between humans and in the world.

If the accounts of murder and violence in history of a prophet
are true or not, one cannot know, but it is such violence
what transforms an organised religion into an organized crime.

*We should have the right to criticise any authority,
ideology or belief who preaches discrimination against any of our fellow humans.

Believers can confuse love with pride and unquestioning submission
A prophet is not a symbol but a human being.
If one makes of a person a symbol that may never be criticized,
even if he committed murder, there is something wrong.
If a prophet indeed stole caravans, violated and slaughtered people
for being unbelievers, or for merely criticising him for his slaughter,
did not apologise for it, gave the bad example and taught to people
to do the same, then the critics of this prophet are right,
and who has to apologise are his followers on his behalf.

There is no holy ground which has been won by cruel violence and hate.
the only true holy place is the spiritual love between us.
Only understanding and love, the communion in the spirit of truth
between us is sacred ground.

A question to Abraham of the Jews and Christians,
(Ibrahim to the Muslims):
Love Consciousness is the Spirit of Beauty and Truth,
the Highest in the Universe and in all living creatures.
How then, can it be the Highest, a God who asks blind
obedience for the sake of power and authority
in the way of a tyrant, telling you to murder your
innocent son, and letting you throw stones
at the voice of your heart, as if it was the devil?

Unquestioning submission even in a crime:
is it not just that what arrogant evil rulers ask for ?
And is it not that what must be seen clearly,
before the spirit of obscurity and war loses its power ?
Faith is indispensable, faith of a simple heart,
not the belief that would close your eyes,
if truth denied it.

The nature of our thoughts
sculpts our way of life,
and who knows, all forms of life.
True love brings the revelation
of spiritual awareness, of truth, justice,
of the perfection of beauty.
Humility, not subservience.

What is the spiritual superiority of domination
trough physical or psychological violence?
If I put a knife on your neck and say
if you do not believe me you are dead,
I might force you to say you believe no matter what.
How can one open the mind,
open the mind to the truth through fear?

If a holy book discriminates people of other beliefs
who could be so loving as not to defend their own life with violence,
or who could be so loving as not to kill a sheep to eat, then is not the Spirit of love
but the spirit of a barbaric men.
And if you want to deny people to see this,
and do not want to see this yourself ,
there is something wrong with your justice,
not with my reasoning or for wanting to let you see this."

An essential difference between Jesus and Mohammed
is that Jesus denied the disciple to defend his life with a sword and violence
while Mohamed promised a paradise to those who would defend his life
with violence and killing.

If a prophet did not separate the spiritual gain from the material gain,
a very important concept in spirituality, if he did not separate the State from Religion,
( what belongs Cesar from what belongs to God), the possession over land, women
and secular power from love and spiritual values,
if he denied the true and essential spiritual values of Christian, Hindu, Buddhist people
by persecuting them, he is indeed the number one terrorist.
Questions to the Church
-'Prophecies will end, but love will never end.'
(Attributed to St. Paul).(quote..
-Would love ever say as St Paul
: it is a shame for a woman to speak in a congregation ?
The value of someone's words has nothing to do
with the gender of the speaker.
If St Paul wrote this, that it is a shame for a woman
to speak in a church, there is an explanation:
she might reveal his contradictions...

Is the duty of a spiritual teacher to judge
from a standpoint of tradition
or from a spiritual point of view?
No act may be condemned as an offence
if it is done in innocence and love.
There is nothing material which is evil per se.
All that is material is blessed and consecrated by love.
So, can any church or anyone condemn an act
based on rules of behaviour, or criteria that are
not spiritual but formal, without committing a greater sin
of pretending to accuse in the name of God, an act of love?

In some unsolved human conflicts an open debate
may be the only therapy, to overcome our personal conflicts
and yield to the voice of reason .
In efforts made towards the union of all religions,
it has been said that war is the responsibility of men, not of religion.
But if it is a fact that this world's religions are in some ways incompatible,
and if a religion, rather than teaching people to see and to reason
teaches the infallibility of the words of a book, a master, prophet or man,
are not religions making war inevitable?

Question to Jesus
What is more important, the Spirit of Love
or what is written in the Bible that you have said?
If you said that when one marries one does not sin,
still I must ask: -Who lives in sin,
a married couple who do not love or care for each other,
or a non-married couple (hetero or homo )
who love and care for each other.
Does it make sense to say: "-Don't give pearls to the swine"
and yet, give someone like a pearl in marriage to one like a swine,
and still prohibit them to divorce?

Why does belief have to be at the cost of love? Of human lives?
What has such belief to do with love ?
Why has fundamentalist violence existed since
the very origin of religion, even in so-called sacred books?
Because idolatry is a projection of egolatry.
Because whether an individual, organization or religion
will not admit even the most sincere and humble questioning,
it is simply ego-tripping.

The violent Islamite Jihad and Inquisition of the Church
are the worst, the most stupid exponents of a faith,
for what could be the level of intelligence and wisdom
of a doctrine that cannot convince but through torture, sword or fire ?
Where is the intelligence or wisdom of a man, prophet or a God
if instead of acting to kill the evil in man, will kill the man itself ?

In the Koran I read that Muslims may not be friends with Jews and Christians.
Is this in the Islamic Constitution?
Jesus, like Buddha before him, has never taken the sword
to kill anyone nor advised anyone to do it for any reason,
as the history and the Koran testify that you, Mohamed, have done.

--if God is justice and love, -You tell me, Mohammed,
( even if no one is perfect on Earth), who better represents God 's will:
Someone who is not afraid to give his life for you,
but will never raise a sword to kill you,
and will even forgive you, if you crucify him,
or someone who is not afraid to kill you
simply for you not believing if he says he is
the true prophet of the God of Mercy ?

What do you consider a greater crime,
to steal something, (like money or so,)
or to mutilate someone without pity,
cut off a member of someone's body?

What do you consider a greater crime,
to fall in love with someone
(other than one's wife or husband),
or to stone someone to death?

What do you consider a greater crime,
to have another opinion or belief than another,
or to burn someone alive?
To punish a human weakness or a human crime
with a much worse, a much more horrible crime,
is that you call holy?

Murder in name of God will continue to be the work of men
or the works of hate, never of God, if God is the Consciousness of Love.
Because in consciousness are one,
sooner or later, we will suffer what we make others suffer,
and we will enjoy what joy we give to others.

What does a religious fundamentalist
have in common with a bureaucrat?
What matters the most to them is not justice or love,
but what 'is written'.

Rules are made for people, not people for rules.
But there are those who love rules
more than people.

Women under the tyrant
If a woman must cover herself from head to toe, and is the one
responsible if a man violates her, and is punished, not the man,
this means that women are responsible beings, and men, irresponsible beasts.
How, then, can this doctrine teach
that woman must obey their men, or go to hell
and that woman are half the worth of men ?
(Sometimes a third, a quarter, or even less….)

Futile dream
If a man who believes his wife is his property,
like a piece of land or like a slave to obey him under a whip
is promised a harem of virgins in Heaven as a pearl necklace,
these can only be the empty-headed, subservient inferiors
he believes they should be: like plastic pearls…

A question to ALLAH
If Allah is the creator, and wanted women to hide their bodies and faces,
he could have given them feathers like birds.
Instead, it were the men who got the beards and more bodily hair…
And if God wished, he could have created us clear in spirit.
Clear in the mind and heart, loving and fair to one another,
on this planet, instead of bound beliefs, to dark prisons of beliefs
of Heaven and Hell after death, that teaches people to hate
people of other beliefs:

Love itself is Heaven, here and now.

and the Way of peace of all Creation,
of all that is being created here and now,

Are holy books telling us to sacrifice love's justice to brutal violence

Is this the infinite justice of God or the infinite vanity of some men ?

If in the Koran men may have as many partners as they can afford,
as slave or wife, and wives are a man's sole property,
what is the difference, in the Islam, between being a slave and being a wife ?
Is it true that according to the Islam,
men may have as many partners as they can afford, as slave or wife,
and have even more ladies in paradise, but if a woman falls in love
and choses to have another man than her husband, she is considered a whore,
to be dishonoured, or go to hell?
The harem- Heavens where created by men and for men.
Men who consider women their inferiors.

One must be stronger than the man-made gods,
stronger, through clarity, than our power-loving imbecility.

There would not be tyrants
if there were no imbeciles to flatter them.
One cannot blame only the men, if women,
in the past, have been tyrannized by men.
To say you must fear God is a story for children.
for how can one fear Love?

We must fear the consequences of being greedy,
of not being just towards each other,
for whatever we do to others it is to ourselves we do it.

If the follow the will of a God,
it is another person's will we must follow.
Therefore there is a conflict.
But if we follow the will of love,
it is not another person's will we must follow,
so the conflict ends.

If in a holy book, there is a contradiction with reason and love,
it is a proof that it is the work of men, not of God.
Fanatics will not see the contradictions
in what they consider the Word of God.

A philosopher does not need to kill someone
for thinking differently than himself… nor a wise man.
The most intelligent way to combat evil
is to create spiritual self-awareness,
not to kill or torture people.
By killing you do not enlighten
or awake the consciousness of someone.
How can create awareness in a dead person?

If we can learn to be good
through the good or bad example of others,
the real teacher is the awareness,
the consciousness in ourselves,
independent of others.

If a disagreement of points of view can inspire
a beautiful dialogue, enrich and deepen the conversation,
is it not stupid to eliminate someone simply
for having another belief or point of view?

If a holy and wise prophet killed or violated the people
for not believing he was wise and holy,
was neither holy nor wise.

Sometimes it is not the out law
that must be reformed, but the law.
To declare war on terrorism is wise,
not to do as terrorists, declare war on a hole people
because of nationality, religion or race.
What if a religion or a state is terrorist state or religion?

The best war on terrorism is a good question.

If a faith divides the people of the Earth
into believers and unbelievers, gives consent to believers to enslave,
deceive, violate, torture and kill unbelievers,
then a mere difference of interpretation of a holy book
between members of the same belief, (what could be solved by an intelligent dialogue).
A mere difference of points of view,
could justify horrible crimes,
such a belief is a source of darkness in this world,
an evil curse in the name of God.-

If a belief is not to follow the Holy spirit of love,
wisdom and compassion,
but to have to agree with whatever it is 'written'
even if contradictory with love ,
then it is a false religion of a false prophet,
To love the truth is to be on everyone's side.

Then, I ask again:
should all people of the Earth share the same belief
or understand the true meaning of love ?

If the first humans were like apes,
why should we idolize our ancestors?
If our ancestors were like apes,
why should we be so sentimental
and unquestioning of old traditions,
in God's name ?"

If the spirit of God is true spiritual love,
what is more worthy,
to love truly, to be in harmony with the spirit of God,
or to be a Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim or whatever?
If the Holy Spirit is the spirit of true spiritual love
between beings, it is not a private property
of any particular institution or person.

A nightmare:
Violent religious fundamentalism is a military system
where a blind army follows a dead general.

Love would say:'
'-Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do;'
(Jesus at the cross).
What kind of a spiritual leader could pray every day
for the death of his enemies'?

Hate is the false prophet, and love is the only true master.
Is it too dangerous to stand beside someone who says this?

what God is, would it not be absurd that in order to prove
that one is right one would violate and murder the other ?
Killing is not the way to enlighten
or awake the consciousness of someone.

What I try to say to this Muslim is:
One does not clear someone's consciousness,
nor brings order to someone's thoughts
by cutting off his head.

To say that a sin against the Holy Spirit
will never be forgiven is saying that the Holy Spirit,
the spirit of love-consciousness,
of wisdom and compassion is not able to forgive.

There is no Holy book.
Love alone is holy.
*
Beliefs are many, love, is but one.
*
Let me be not a Christian, but a friend of Christ,
not a Buddhist, but a friend of Buddha,
not anyone's follower, but everyone's friend,
at least, through my work.

Contemplate the river of changes of life-death-resurrection,
the wonder and beauty of all fleeting forms of nature,
parts of an endless whole.
Hate is a false perception of thought- love’s light alone is true.

The expression that can be in our eyes
could be in anyone's eyes.

Transparent and formless,
water is coloured and formed by its path,
but it also shapes its path.

In spite all the suffering, in this world,
the loss of loved ones, the nightmares,
what beautiful music and poetry it all has inspired!
When beauty rises above pain and sorrow,
what a glorious art work the universe appears to be!

Once upon a time someone asked an angel if there were angels in the church: -
'Yes' ,the angel answered: - 'while the music is playing.
When the talking begins, they go away…'
(like Myriam does…)

The important, to the heart, is the love,
in the music, in the word, not the notes, nor the letters.
*
And what is the spirit in the music, in the words?
It only takes vanity, a vain singer,
to transform a song of consciousness,
a song of true love, into a hymn of power,
or a sentimental syrup.

Speaking about music
(what is prohibited by traditions like that of the Taliban), I told a Muslim,
so he could understand my meaning of love:
-'All that is beautiful comes from God.'
Beauty can be anywhere
but fanatics think God is expressed only in their contradictory holy books or traditions,
what creates the ugliness of hate and chaos and war where there should be love and peace.
Religious terrorism makes it evident how we can we reduce God, Justice or love
to the smallness of our egoist minds, how we create God in our own petty images.
The heavy, contradictory traditions, or beliefs of terrorists
are those which condemning killing, robbing and lying, force you to kill,
rob and lie, for the sake of their authority.

There is no traditional love.
Yet the highest form of tradition, of culture, of art,
would be an expression of love,

To say that art is revolutionary
to the extent that it is new,
is as saying that by ever changing
and putting on new clothes,
we will be essentially changed.

Myriam resumes the dilemma of an artist in a superficial society:
'-One's work is not to seen,
because one does not have a name
or is not seen because one has a name.'

Can real art be dissociated from love?
Creativity in itself is not enough, from a deeper perspective.
One may have ability, one may be creative even in violating others in a crime.

How can one dissociate an act from that which it serves;
whether it is love or the ego?
What value has a word, a form, without the spirit of love?
To praise ability, creativity, art, for its own sake,
could be to elevate the person with an ability,
even a criminal, to the level of a hero, to create a false value,
a false god, put him on a pedestal and adore him.

To draw is to reduce all forms to the basic elements
of all forms, it is to see that all expressions as part
of the universal self; or, the ego's illusion.

When you keep looking
at the expression in your eyes,
a miracle happens: you find yourself.
*
The drawing, not the colour, is the spiritual essence
of an artistic expression.
An angel in black stone is still an angel.
A devil in white marble is still a devil.
The expression that can be in our eyes
could be in anyone's eyes.

If we does not work for any particular nation,
religion or tradition, but for the evolution of consciousness,
for the peace within and between the beings of this planet,
for the preservation of the beauty of nature and of the soul,
which nation will support us?
*
'-If there were no wars,' (said Myriam once),
'there would be enough for all'.
*
Are we helping to create a world where weapon-makers are rich
but peace makers poor?
A world where to share a property with friends can be illegal,
but for a government to make and atomic weapons, it is not?
The making, keeping, and using weapons
of mass destruction is a crime.
It is a crime, not only
against humanity, but against all forms of life.

Myriam explains irrationality:
According to scientists,
when we are over emotional and unreasonable
we are using the area of the brain
at the Cerebellum, that we bring from the reptiles.
It must be true, I told her:
that is why when we are unreasonable,
we can have a big mouth, and little brains, like crocodiles...

Animals are trained by reward and punishment.
Animals also respect physical superiority or power.
From the animal we bring the pride of power,
the downfall of mankind.

The only evil is the thought of greed covering love,
called our spiritual ignorance.
If we mean that God is love itself then it make sense to say that
if you have God in your heart you are never lost or alone.

Why is love and consciousness the master or God
over the greed of this hard material world?
Ethics are the reality of the consciousness within this material reality.
justice is simply superior to injustice.
good superior over evil, of love over greed.

That justice is higher, and injustice inferior,
it is not a belief, its more clear than water,
more evident than light.
I do not know if God exists
as one particular individual,
but I know that the infinite spirit of beauty,
humbleness; awareness and love exists
and that for me this is enough.

If the love consciousness creates the Saviour,
it is Love, in the first place, the one who saves.

If the God of the Old Testament sent people to Eternal hell
Did Jesus have to die on the cross to tell God:
-Forgive them, for they do not know what they do.?*

There is a popular expression:
'Who doesn't learn though wisdom learns through pain'.
Do we learn compassion through pain?
Some become more hateful and cruel trough suffering.
Severity does not mean to do violence to others.
If it did, someone had to be violent to you to teach you to be kind
to you who in turn, had to be violent to others to teach others to be kind,
who in turn, had to be violent to others…
Does that make any sense?

Hate generates hate, love generates love.
but we could be above the influence of hate.
Only through love it is possible to stop
the vicious circle of hate.
-'The evil that is done to me does not make me evil' says a holy man:
-'Only the evil I do makes me evil.'

Suffering or joy, prison or liberty
is the natural consequence of the nature of our mind
If we change our mind, our lives will change.

The last Judgement
Is man guilty or a victim of unclarity
of false perception, of illusion ?
When you dream, who makes the dream ?

In French it is 'Je fis un rêve', (an active role),
in English it is 'I had a dream,'(a passive role)…

If living creatures are the dreams of love-consciousness,
Why the nightmares ?
Evil is the nightmare of existence.
*
If the water drowns you, if the sun burns you,
if a stone kills you,
it has done no injustice, because it had no consciousness.
*
-Are we to blame,
or is God to blame
for the suffering of this world?
Are we responsible, or is God responsible,
if we do not know what we do?
*
If love-consciousness is the Creator,
is it to blame for the false thought,
the false identification
that creates unclarity and arrogance,
cruel acts and suffering ?
*
If even an innocent act, in the material world,
may have bad consequences, or if the innocent can suffer,
this world is not just.
Love does not blame an innocent act,
even if it causes suffering.
*
Who would consciously choose to be an idiot,
to be judged as an undignified human,
to suffer humiliation and shame ? -No one.
So, is there ever, then, a conscious crime ?
*
Even in a criminal act, there is no real clarity.
Even if knowingly, one does evil to another,
one does not know what one is doing to another, to oneself.
*
It must not be an instinct but a false perception,
what makes a creature, human or not human commit cruel acts.
In this sense there is no evil person, but a faulty consciousness.
*
Should a father give a weapon in the hands of a little child?
*
If the love consciousness creates the Saviour,
it is love, in the first place, who saves us.
As children, we believed in Santa Claus, or father Noel
a friendly old man who came down the chimney to bring us gifts.
Now we know he is a symbol of a generous spirit of love
in us: the spirit of Divine providence.

According to Buddha, suffering arises from greed.
One can say that greed arises from spiritual unconsciousness,.
or the wrong thought or the material illusion that there can be profit
to oneself in causing the misery of another.
Buddha saw that through clear self awareness and compassion
the condition of suffering can end.
*
The evil of greed arises from the wrong thought
or the material illusion
that there can be profit to oneself
in causing the misery of another.
*
In that sense, the greed in us,
at the cost of another's misery,
is not a creation of God,
for it is not created by love.
*
I do not know if God exists,
as any particular person,
but I know that love exists,
and that, for me, is enough.

Hate is the false prophet and the eternal loser.
Love is the true master and eternal glory!
*
The eternal hell is hate.
not more hate but love can end the vicious circle of hate.
*
Love is Heaven,
desire is the Earth inside you.
Desire is a blind force,
that must be enlightened and guided by love.

The last judgement is not made upon the unclear
unconscious person, but upon unclarity itself.

Domestic Philosophy
If my Bonitinha does not see
that my faults are diminishing,
is because she is just adding them up.
if she gets messy when the house is messy.
she throws the baby with the bath water.
if she did not mock at my God of love,
she would not feel the bills and everything
weighing heavily on her shoulders.
She would even agree with me
that a messy house can be more cosy
than one which is ordered with a cold and bitter heart.

The solution for evil is enlightenment,
not eternal hell, not hate, not more evil.
Therefore the God who sent people
to eternal hell knew nothing about Justice.

Is only a hate without forgiveness,
what can send someone to an eternal hell.
Love or God can never send someone to hell.
If God is love, the ultimate judge,
God does not condemn, or turns its back forever on someone:
Seek and thou shall find,
ask the question and the answer will come!

There is no love without justice,
there is no justice without love.
Belief is what one thinks is the truth.

Some say there is justice
in the end,
after death.
If you love, justice must be now.

Though through stone, water, wind and fire,
you may suffer unjustly, in this earthly life,
within you, you have justice,
when you love,
when you are true.
Here, now, there is justice, when I love you.

Consciousness would not hurt another consciousness,
for it would hurt itself.
Who would be hurt by sincerity
by awareness, consciousness of what is?
Who could be hurt by the truth,
but the vain, the untrue?

If by unconsciousness you have been hurt,

An injustice could not be done
consciously against you,

is to be in communion
with the true self of all.

In love we are all one,
a harmonious whole-
that being, consciousness immortal

and only here and now exists,
that love is.

To realize this, is the freedom

Foreword
While staying beside this river in a forest reserve in Brazil,
I ran out of painting material, and used what was then available:
a camera. Most of these photos were taken at the same time,
before the sun set behind the mountains.
The text includes meditations and questions, which have been
with me for years and extracts of letters sent to the Pope, the European
Parliament to governors, ministers, and people in different parts of the world,
in the hope of clearing long, tiresome and hopeless conflicts
of human beings upon this planet.
If we, human beings are intelligent enough to invent a weapon
that can blow up this world, we must, at least find a solution to live
in peace with each other.
